David Leyton, the Genesee County prosecutor and a leading Democratic candidate for state Attorney General, was given the Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Crime Fighter Award for his work on behalf of children, according to an MLive.com report.
Washtenaw County Prosecutor Brian Mackie, state co-chair of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Michigan, presented the award, saying "Prosecutor Leyton's work has helped to provide children ages zero to five with access to high-quality early childhood care and education programs to ensure that those children get the right start in life."
On his Facebook feed, Leyton called Fight Crime a "great organization that works to fund early childhood education. I strongly believe in getting kids into school and off on the right foot."
