OAKLAND COUNTY - An Oakland Press story this week focused on the new Michigan Office of Great Start and its potential impact on local preschool programs.
Oakland County preschool programs are expected to benefit with Gov. Rick Snyder’s creation of a Great Start office and the recent appointment of Susan Broman as director, said Donna Luskie, early childhood consultant at Oakland Schools intermediate district.
Great Start focuses on areas of child health, social emotional development, parent education, early education and basic needs.
“I am happy they made that decision. Susan has been a long-time supporter of early childhood programs across state,” she said, noting Broman has worked as president of the Grand Rapids-based Steelcase Foundation, where she generated corporate and business funds to benefit early childhood programs.
