Last week was a difficult one for me being away from home for an extended period of time since the birth of my daughter, and at the same time exciting to meet with my Head Start counterparts and other federally funded program staff in Washington DC for Early Childhood 2010.
My time was cut short due to unfortunate events of a personal nature, but before my time was cut short I was able to listen to the plenary session which included U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.
During this session they announced formation of an inter-agency Policy Board on Early Learning which in of itself is exciting news to learn that partnerships will continue to be strengthened at the federal level including joint policy development. Listening to this session which also included Jack Shonkoff from Harvard University allowed me to leave feeling inspired and excited for future developments around the corner.
