Community Conversation Themes:

• Transportation issues challenge our ability to meet the needs of our children and families. Lack of Transportation restricts access to child care, jobs, health care, fresh food and groceries, and opportunity.
  
  "In our rural setting, transportation, to and from work, is a big issue - especially when work hours are unpredictable. The pay for a shortened shift may not even cover the cost of childcare and transportation."
  
  "A family might have a car that has to be taken care of because transportation is so crucial. Paying for that new tire can be a choice between that and putting food on the table. The stress of dealing with immediate economic issues can push back things like dealing with their kids' educational issues, which can become invisible to them."
  
  "So many of parents don't know English so it's difficult to learn to drive and the public transportation system is really not very good. The lack of transportation cuts across jobs, and service both for the families and the children."
