Karen Roback's Blog
<< Return to main blog

I knew that would get your attention, and now that I have it, welcome to my new blog! Once an aspiring astronaut, my journey rocketed down a detour and I discovered early childhood. I boldly went where no one I knew had gone before, and sought out new paths of knowledge. I soon discovered curious little humans called toddlers and I knew there was no going back, I had found my universe.

I have never blogged before and I ask you to join me as I embark on a new journey. I will be blogging weekly about topics I am passionate about, for example curious toddlers and how to support their curiosity. I will seek answers to mysteries like, why do three year-olds always ask why, and what can I do about it? When I learn something new I will share it with you. I will share how Michigan is changing to improve child care quality and ensure young children reach their full potential.

I hope my blog contains useful information you can use, and share with others. I hope my blog inspires you to act. I hope my blog offers you new ideas to think about and consider. I hope you join me on my journey through the early childhood universe. My blog will be posted on Mondays.

Take a chance. See where it leads you!

Quite honestly that is how “my story” into the world of early childhood began, and the same type of chance that leads me to blogging this very message.   I will share “my story” in another blog, but for the past 15 years I have been thankful that chance helped to transform the direction of my life.

I have worked for children and families as a child care provider, at a university, a non-profit agency, and now with Head Start and the Early Childhood Investment Corporation. This was a path that was once very uncertain for me, and with each stop I have collected experiences that help to direct my work today.

I am embarking on this opportunity to blog weekly here at ECIC and share my thoughts with you on a wide range of topics which I get to choose. License to experiment and see where this path leads me and any readers along the way.

I plan to blog about my own personal experiences, best practices, research, hot topics, and a few stories for good measure. I hope that as you visit my blog and in doing so you find constructive information, resources, and an additional connection with a fellow professional.

Together we can continue our work towards ensuring child receive the highest quality of opportunities, receive the services in which they deserve, and arrive at their schoolhouse ready.

See you again next week!
