Who are the unsung heroes in your community?

Success is achievable without public recognition, and the world has many unsung heroes (Michael DeBakey, M.D. in Success Secrets of Super Achievers by Stovall).

The Head Start Act of 2007 called for designation of national centers of excellence which would be completed through a nomination process, competitive grant process, and finally award of bonus grants to carry out activities related to share resources and support to other Head Start grantees in addition to increased funding of activities identified as part of a center of excellence.  

Thelma Melendez de Santa Ana is the chief advisor for the U.S. Education Secretary, Arne Duncan. In her post, she advises Secretary Duncan on preschool, elementary and secondary education matters.
